The Tackling Track Safety Project was devised as an effective and fun way of delivering the important Rail Safety messages to children across the country by incorporating them into a sporting environment. The project consists of a Key Stage 2, 3 & 4 assembly which outlines the dangers of the railway and ways to ensure safety, followed by 5 activity sessions for children in year 5 which focus on the key messages about the Railway. The KS2 children all receive a Tackling Track Safety work booklet and over the duration of the project they are able to show what they have learnt during the activity sessions by answering multiple choice questions in their booklet.

The clubs delivery of the Tackling Track Safety Project will have seen over 2,000 young people engage with the project upon its completion.

Tackling Track Safety Project Director, Philip Fitton spoke of the partnership with Goldhawks;

“The TTSP is a wonderful project and this year over 50,000 young people nationally will be educated about the dangers of the Railway in a fun and engaging environment.

“We have been extremely impressed with the staff at the club and they have shown a real passion for what is a massively important topic.

We are excited about this partnership with Goldhawks Basketball, one which will have a significant impact on the lives of the local and wider community.”
